I hope everyone enjoyed the month off, but stayed active and running regularly. It’s time to resume our normal Saturday training schedule effective this weekend at 7:30am. We will stay at the normal time for another month before we shift into an earlier start to beat the heat.
As we discussed earlier in the year, the summer and fall training schedule will focus on marathon training. Please do not misinterpret that into thinking that others are not welcome. All members are welcome to join us every Saturday regardless of what they are training for. Those not training for the longer distance will simply turn around earlier and head back.
We will once again have fresh fruit and coffee every week with mile markers, arrows and water spread throughout each course. Every year, we build our fall training schedule around a destination race. This year it is the St. Louis Rock-n-roll Marathon and Half Marathon on October 27th. Several of you may remember the offer I made to the entire group. If we get a total of 30 participants to register for this event, I will run the marathon in a costume decided by the group. I need to see how close I am to making this offer a reality. Please click HERE to send us your registration confirmation from the race.
One more thing, we have a whopping 22 weeks until race day and therefore still have a few weeks to play with before starting a traditional 20 week marathon training plan. This week will kick things off with a 8 mile route and next week we will jump up to 10 miles. The schedules (to be released very soon) will begin officially the week of June 15th.
Once again, we are looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces again this weekend. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
See you Saturday!
