Ok Everybody,
Here is our plan of attack. First of all, I want to apologize for the delay in posting this. I was waiting to see if the race organizers were going to announce any changes as a result of the flooding issues. I heard this morning on the news that nothing would be changed. With that being said, I believe the number one problem that people will experience is parking. All of the flooding and street closures on the streets surrounding the finish line will create havoc on participants and spectators.
After studying the mini and marathon course maps and noting all street closures, we have come up with a plan of attack. Here is our recommendation. The plan is to meet as a group at the corner of Market and Preston (in front of the Residence Inn, facing Market) by 7:00am. Please try to make it by 7:00 so we can take a nice big group picture. This spot is only 3-4 blocks from the starting line so try to arrive early to get a parking spot. Next topic, getting to and from the start/finish area. My recommendation is to park somewhere on Preston Street just down the road from where we are meeting. That way you could drive straight down Preston after the race and get right on the ramp to I-65. Arriving will also be a little tricky with all of the street closures. I would take 65 south and get off at Jefferson/Brook exit (just after hospital curve), then take the left side of the Y to end up traveling north on Brook Street, take the next right onto Market, then one more right on Preston and find a parking spot. It’s that simple.
Keep in mind, these are merely suggestions.
That’s it for now. Use this meeting time and place to catch up with your running buddies. One more thing, don’t forget to show your team spirit by wearing your new singlet.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Stacey if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday!
