I have always known that I needed serious help in the department of nutrition……You get to a point in the road where you either keep doing what you are doing and nothing changes, or you recognize something needs to be different.
I have known Dale for awhile but in the sense of strength and running….I reached out to him for nutrition help and guidance….I was about to tackle one of the biggest races probably of my life…… The Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run……
There is a level of trust that one must have when you are putting all of your personal information out for a coach to see….. weight, eating habits, sleeping habits, contents of your pantry, fridge, and cooking utensils or lack thereof…… Dale is ONE OF THE BEST, because he tells you like it is, no sugar coating….I am not a fan of sugar coating, just like I am not a fan of sugar to begin with….Dale helped me with so many things it is hard to even start….
Dale went ABOVE and beyond what was asked….He bent backwards and forwards to meet me whether it be for a run meeting, or if I needed to weigh in….or for a coffee meeting because that is all we could fit it. After giving me the “harsh” truth that I indeed was under weight, unhealthy with my eating habits, and needed to change, I was mentally ready to tackle what he had in store. He gave me the proper reading materials needed to familiarize myself with what was to come. Every week he would show me something new to eat or to make, and it was very easy to do with a busy work and run schedule. He kept me accountable for my eating habits and actions. He also taught me to stop and plan for EVERY MEAL, to include fruits, veggies, proteins and LOTS of carbs. He got me to eat breakfast which is something that I have NEVER consistently done since I was a kid….He got me to make shakes, because that was an easy caloric meal for me to eat/drink while I was teaching.
Dale had a huge task…. Both he and his wife were miracle workers in calming me down and helping me with this…….I know that I was not an easy client….I was panic stricken, worried, and most of the time stressed out. He calmed me down by reassuring me and being such a positive coach……. If I messed up, and Lord knows I did, he didn’t berate me, but he just simply helped me…… He introduced me to rice cakes that I used for my race….. Believe me I did fight him on this….. I am a bit stubborn you could say. The rice cakes helped keep my very sensitive stomach at bay during the race. I can never thank Dale enough for all that he has done for me in changing the way I eat, well really my life. I would recommend Dale’s nutrition services to anyone looking to make a change in their life, train for a race, or just become healthier.
