I have two quick reminders for everyone. First and foremost, registration for the KDF mini marathon/marathon closes April 8th. See info below.
Registration will close April 8 for the 2014 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon. Combined registration for both the mini and marathon is expected to reach 16,000 runners. The races, presented by Walmart and HumanaVitality, “marks the largest annual day of road racing in Kentucky,” said Deja Lawson, race director. “We will close registration several days prior to the event to ensure we have the infrastructure and amenities in place to support all the runners.” The races are set for Saturday, April 19. Registration is available at www.DerbyFestivalMarathon.com. Registration is $90 for the mini and $105 for the marathon. Both races will still start at 7:30 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Louisville and finish at Preston and Witherspoon streets. The course will go through the main gate at Churchill Downs and include a lap through the infield.
Secondly, the Chicago marathon lottery ends Monday, April 7th. This is our first choice for a fall marathon, but if the majority of us do not get in, we have a back-up plan. If you have nay interest at all, enter the lottery ASAP. It doesn’t cost anything to enter the lottery. If you get chosen, then you will be required to pay if you still want the entry.
Registration is now open for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Those interested in registering for the 2014 event will be able to:
1) Register with a guaranteed entry
2) Enter the registration lottery. The registration lottery entry period will close on Monday, April 7, at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time.
If you are selected in the lottery or approved with a guaranteed entry you will receive information on how to enter payment and complete your registration on Monday, April 14. The fee for the 2014 event is USD $185 for U.S. residents. The field will be capped at a maximum of 45,000 participants.
