As a recreational runner, have you ever wanted to ask an elite runner, like Wesley Korir, questions about running? Well, here’s your chance. Ken Combs Running Store, 2nd Wind Motivation and The Training Studio are sponsoring a Q & A session this Saturday at Ken Combs Running Store from 10-11am. Wesley is using this opportunity to promote both his new foundation (kenyankidsfoundation.org) and his wife’s new children’s book, Grandma and Gogo. We are asking those in attendance to either make a small donation to their foundation or purchase the book ($20) to show your support.
Just in case you haven’t heard who Wesley Korir is or what his accomplishments have been, here is a brief bio.
Wesley previously won and set a record in the 2009 and 2010 Los Angeles Marathon, the first back to back winner in eight years. He took second place in the 2011 Chicago Marathon with a personal record time of 2 hours 6 minutes and 15 seconds, only to break that PR by another 2 seconds in 2012. Oh yeah, he also won the 2012 Boston Marathon. Wesley was formerly a runner for the University of Louisville.
This week the marathon group is running 15 miles with the mini marathon group doing 6. Here is the route for this week.
Don’t forget that we have adjusted the start time forward to 6:30am to beat the heat.
At last count, I have 22 people confirmed for registration into either the half or full marathon in St. Louis this fall. We still need 8 more to make this costume thing a reality. Send me a note to dale@thetrainingstudio.com if you decide to join us or to confirm that I have you on the list.
Once again, I can’t stress enough the importance of recognizing our sponsors. Without these people, this program would not be possible. Here is a list with links for more information about each company.
