We are sad to announce that this weekend will be the last structured Saturday group training of the year. As we discussed earlier this year when everyone registered, our program is now only for the spring season. We tried the annual concept for the last several years with good intentions of keeping everyone training during the fall, making the spring season much easier. These good intentions unfortunately fell on deaf ears. While we did have some very dedicated souls that stayed focused and either did a mini or full marathon in the fall, our participation for the most part, dropped off drastically. We appreciate those that stuck with it and stayed the course with us for the last few fall seasons, but we just didn’t get enough participation.
Let’s recap what was accomplished this year. We changed several things this year with intentions of making this the most comprehensive group available. We gave away a free month of strength training to all participants, put together a very comprehensive 78 page online training manual for everyone and even donated a portion of all revenue to the Olmsted Parks, in addition to a marked course each week with water, speed workouts with Ken Combs on Tuesday evenings, discounts at Ken Combs Running Store and fresh coffee and bagels after each training.
Now we want to hear from you. Let us know how we can improve on our existing program. Any thoughts on changes or additions to the program that you would like to see? This is your opportunity to speak your mind. We promise to acknowledge and consider all reasonable requests.
We are still planning to meet as a group at the start of the mini marathon next week and also plan to host a post-race celebration after the Derby. Keep an eye out for next weeks post with more detailed info.
